Damask baby shower

I love it when clients have a theme or picture in mind of what they want their cake to look like ~ but I love it even more when they give me free reign. I have so many designs piling up in my head, that when I am given complete freedom, it’s so hard to choose which one to make. Jodi’s request with this baby shower cake was to “just make it cute”… easily done!

Since this cake is only needs to serve a few people, I forced myself to make a small cake (I’m a tad obsessed with tiers) and focus more on the design. The baby booties and ruffle flower are made of gum paste, and the damask stencil I used is from www.designerstencils.com.

  1. Its GORGEOUS, Thea!!!!! Did you use royal icing on fondant?

  2. I love this cake! I’m not sure I could convince Trevor to hold it for me while I used icing. Can’t wait till my kids are older and I can consider it part of their chores!

Lol! I won’t say he didn’t help me without some minor huffing and puffing, but it is handy having that extra set of hands. Thanks Jessica <3
